We had our 2nd "Routine" OB visit today.. I am 13 weeks as of yesterday..
So.. I had the nurse that I had my very first visit to the office (my first u/s visit with my 2nd pregnancy). She was quite obviously new there the first time I went, and I hadn't seen her since.. I sort of thought she had been fired.. But she's still there and seems better at her job now too.. I actually LOST a pound since my last visit (and hadn't gained any previous to that).. So all the biggness in my belly must really be baby pushing stuff out cuz its not extra weight!
Then the Dr came in. I saw the Dr who did my D&C.. I REALLY like her.. She is younger and I know this is horrible to say, but she speaks better English than the other Dr. I have seen in that office (I still have one more to see, but I won't see her til October, I think she is the most popular). And it seemed like she genuinely remembered me (I met her the first time the day of my D&C and only saw her for the followup..) and my situation.. She tried to find the heartbeat on the doppler. I knew it might be tricky since they told me at my ultrasound last week that I have an anterior placenta, so that can sometimes get in the way. So it was taking awhile.. and while, really, I knew everything was OK.. I was getting nervous.. And so was Jeff. So she tried to reassure us and tried for a little longer, but finally just said.. "Lets put this to rest.." and pulled out the ultrasound thingy! So, we got to see our little squirmer! Just for a couple seconds.. but we saw that little heart beating and the baby moving around.. after that, now that we could relax, she was able to find the heartbeat on the doppler for a couple seconds.. A few times you could hear her catch it for a second and then the baby would move away.. Little stinker. but she did it get pretty solid for a little bit.. We didn't get a heartrate count, but she said it sounded nice and fast..
I am just so thankful that my Dr's really get it!
